The Sunny Moment: Are You Ready To Have Your Pet Adopted?

Animal Adoption:

Finding A New Home For A Pet

Last Sunday (September 23, 2018), my heart was broken.  Oh, I know what you’re thinking… but nah, not in a romantic way, huh? I can say this is something I will always remember and I will continue to share even as time goes by because of the emotional attachment, love and time I had given to a cat.

Yes, a handsome three month old cat, and the pain of having to part with him.

CAT ADOPTION

You may wonder, hmmn another cat?

Yes, Sunny is Chabby’s and Goldie’s furbrother.  When Sunny was barely a month old, we decided to give him up for adoption as we already have three (3) cats at home. That time, Sunny was still a baby, aloof and not quite friendly to humans.

They played rough!

Goldie was always looking after Sunny

Of course, before taking any step I thought of friends and contacted a few people I know who are into cat parenting because I wanted to make sure that Sunny’s new owners would really welcome and take care of him. One day a fellow blogger mentioned that she has a friend who’s interested in taking Sunny in for adoption. I had mixed feelings when I heard the news—happy for Sunny that finally he’s gonna have a home but a little anxious and sad too because he will be leaving us.

I got in touch with Zenki, (Sunny’s adoptive furparent) and I was glad that she was really interested and serious in adopting our adorable kitty.

The adoption didn’t come soon though because of our busy schedules. So, the longer Sunny stayed with us, the more fun moments we shared along with Chabby and Goldie.

As the days went by Sunny slowly became an affectionate and playful cat. I would always play around with him with a broomstick and tell him that he’s quite big for a three month old because he eats well, and is not picky when it comes to food.

How can you resist that look?

THE NOT-SO -SUNNY MOMENT

So, the not so Sunny Sunday moment came.

When Zenki messaged me that she was already on the way to fetch Sunny, I couldn’t contain my tears.

Goldie and Sunny were able to say goodbye to each other too. The two were inseparable so I can imagine Goldie’s sadness. I saw them embrace each other while they were sleeping and my heart just melted and tears started to roll down my eyes. Before he left, I told Sunny that I love him and he should behave in his new home. I sent him off but didn’t watch him leave.

Now tell me if animals cant understand love?

Minutes before Sunny left.
This must be heartbreaking for the two

Sunny is now with his new furparent–Zenki who showers him with affection

Im happy and at peace that Sunny is well with Zenki and his new family

HOW TO DEAL WITH SEPARATION ANXIETY:

  • Think that your pet is in a much better place, with a family who will provide and take good care of him.
  • Remember the happy times you shared with your pet, knowing that you also made him happy.
  • Cry and pray you’ll be over it. In my case, I still have Goldie and Chabby to look after. Goldie is more affected, having lost a playmate, that during daytime we have to comfort him and keep him company.

Soon Goldie will be fine and I am happy knowing that Sunny has found a home and is now loved by his new family. CCT.
