Are you a health buff?
If not, then I suggest that by this time you should at least take note of the food that you get into your system.
Whhaaat are ‘ya sayin’?! I can almost hear some of you scream hahaha! When I was in college I was quite picky and that includes not wanting to eat vegetables as much as my elders would want. I remember how my Lola would always cook vegetable stew popularly known in Ilonggo as “laswa” but I would refuse to eat the greens and just sip the broth to appease her.
Later on, in my early twenties I had to force myself to eat veggies as my Mama’s rule was – eat what’s on the table and no special menu to cater to your whims. My Mama would always include a veggie dish for lunch and dinner so I had no choice. There would be pinakbet, laswa, sautéed, steamed, boiled or ensalada style veggies, raw such as lettuce wrap for chicken or beef giniling. Name it, we’ve had it.
Through the years I have acquired the taste and have appreciated the health benefits brought about by eating veggies.
MALUNGGAY DRINK
In the past, whenever tinolang manok was served, I’d always set aside the malunggay leaves. I never imagined that I would be a staunch admirer of this vegetable in later years. I live in a home with health conscious elders as our bloodline is also prone to many hereditary illnesses.
What I found out from research is that our body benefits a lot from eating or drinking malunggay. Below are just some of the many known benefits a cup of malunggay or moringga drink can do to our body if taken regularly.
-This super plant is packed with vitamins A, C and E. In fact, research shows that moringa leaves have more vitamin C than a citrus fruit.
– One cup of chopped leaves is considered a good source of iron, calcium, vitamin B6 and riboflavin.
– It also balances blood sugar
–It has 3x potassium content compared to one banana
-Promotes radiant skin and liver protection
-Helps in treating urinary disorders and those with kidney stones
-Regulates chronic constipation
-Detoxification
