Caring for Patients  with Dengue

What Is Dengue?

Dengue is a disease brought about by a mosquito carrying the dengue virus.

Here in the Philippines, dengue is always in the news as it has already turned into epidemic proportion in several areas around the country.  I come from Negros Occidental and dengue cases are increasing every week.  In fact, the Regional Hospital here in our province needed more funds and hospital space for patients with dengue.

In a talk given by Dr. Allan Jake C. dela Cruz for Bell Kenz Pharmaceutical Inc.—the distributor of IgCo, a milk supplement with natural colostrum—he mentioned that we should always take note of fever ranging 37.9 -40 degrees that doesn’t change.  Other early signs and symptoms of dengue we should watch out for are:

  • fever
  • headache
  • body malaise
  • no appetite
  • muscle pain
  • nausea
  • diarrhea
  • flushed skin
  • vomiting

Of course, we should always seriously follow these Dengue Prevention Tips:

  • Observe the 4’oclock habit in your home and encourage your community to do the same. It means cleaning your own back yard, getting rid of any possible dirt or objects that may invite mosquitoes.
  • Throw out stagnant water from vases, tires, pails and other items that store water.
  • Use insect repellant products.
  • Once you feel you have dengue symptoms, consult your doctor right away.

How Does IgCo Help a Dengue Patient

IgCo is a new milk product that’s now out in the market. Drinking this milk can help while the patient is recovering from dengue because of its IgCo or immunoglobin colostrum component which is taken from cows.

Colostrum is the first rich milk that comes out of the mammary glands and can be found either in human breast milk or cow’s milk.

Research shows that when Bovine colostrum is taken by mouth it can boost the immune system, heal injuries, repair nervous system damage, improve mood and sense of well-being, slow and reverse aging and can be an agent for killing bacteria and fungus.

IgCo can help strengthen the body’s immune system in order to combat diseases as well as help in hastening recovery from illnesses. However, Dr. Allan Jake also emphasized that it is not a cure for this dreadful virus.

IgCo is a milk food supplement.

People with low resistance, low immune system and those who are sick with flu, cough can surely take this as their daily milk supplement.
