This week is special lalo na sa mga at tumatangkilik sa Wowowin TV host na si Willie Revillame, as he celebrates his 59th birthday on January 27. Willie is known to celebrate his birthday with his friends but according to reports, this year is going to be different as the TV host has opted for a simple celebration and will concentrate more in helping the victims of the Taal Volcano eruption in Batangas where Willie also owns a few properties.
WOWOW….WILLIE
Wilfredo Buendia Revillame, known to many as Willie Revillame, started his career way back in the 80’s as one of Randy Santiago’s Hawi Boys. Later on he did comedy movies where he would usually play the bida’s side kick. Matapos ang mga side kick roles, nabigyan din si Willie ng chance na bumida kasama ang malalaking artista sa industriya ng pelikula, patunay lamang na mahusay siyang makisama at marunong dumiskarte sa buhay.
Ilan sa mga nagawa niyang pelikula ay Alyas Boy Tigas, Matalino Man Ang Matsing, Kung Kaya Mo Kaya Ko Rin, Pera o Bayong to name a few.
In 1998, Willie again reunited with his best buddies Randy Santiago and John Estrada on television, this time as hosts of the TV variety show, Magandang Tanghali Bayan, which aired until 2004.
WORKING WITH WILLIE
I can still recall how working with Willie was like, as if it happened only yesterday.
It was 2004 when Wowowee, the show that replaced MTB, was born. My good friend and colleague, Ador Saluta, was the publicist of that show. I would tag along with him during live shows and later on we were told that Willie wanted more publicists for his show.
I was very happy to have been handpicked by Willie himself along with a few members of the press.
The years that I spent working with Willie were also the times I got to see the other side of him.
Willie is oftentimes misunderstood by people around him especially by those who only get to have a glimpse of him on television.
Many times he was labeled as mayabang, bastos at kung ano pang sinasabi tungkol sa kanya lalo ng mga detractors niya ‘pag siya ay naiintriga.
On the contrary, Willie is one very generous soul lalo na sa mga nangangailangan. He is a perfectionist pagdating sa trabaho because Willie believes that it is what you can offer best to those who support you–ang galingan ang trabaho mo.
He is kind and generous even when you’re not asking anything. Kaya kahit anong trials at challenges ang dumating sa buhay niya, patuloy siyang nakakabangon kasi mabuti ang puso niya.
WILLIE WINS
Sa lahat ng pinagdaanan ng TV host, sa lahat ng nanlait sa kanya- he won over all these battles.
Why? Laging sinasabi ni Willie sa amin noon, wala siyang hinanakit sa puso niya at lahat ay ipinagpapasa-Diyos niya.
He is still hosting Wowowin , a game show in GMA 7 aired Monday to Friday at 5pm. Magkakaroon din ito ng Saturday edition due to public demand.
