THE WAY IT WAS
Star Magic, ABS-CBN’s Talent Management arm, started more than two decades ago as ABS-CBN Talent Center with the aim to develop and hone raw talents into professional artists through acting and personality development workshops that will help them gain confidence and get to know more about themselves. This will also prepare them for TV, movie, events or commercial assignments.
Recently, Star Magic launched their new batch of artists via a Zoom mediacon hosted by the cutie and very articulate Edward Barber. This time all of them are into singing!
Friends, continue reading to get to know more about them!
SAB & RECIO :
The two were discovered by Star Magic and both have the talent not only in singing but in writing their own songs too. Sab, 19, mentioned that she writes songs for other artists and wouldn’t mind singing other compositions. She went to professional singing lessons at age 13.
Recio, on the other hand, is an Atenista who also started singing at a very young age. If you ask Recio about his musical influences, he considers his grandfather as the biggest one. He also plays the guitar and sings his heart out while playing the instrument he loves.
May kilig factor sila, so baka in the future magka-loveteam din sila…why not?
THE A TEAM (ALCASID TOTAL ENTERTAINMENT and ARTIST MANAGEMENT)
The young talents from the A Team group were discovered by singer/ song writer Mr. Ogie Alcasid’s management company and are now being co-managed by Star Magic. Talented artists deserve the limelight, right?
Let’s start start with:
Poppert Bernadas
Poppert started his singing career with The Maestro himself, Mr. Ryan Cayabyab. He also became part of the stage play Rack of Aegis and is now with the A Team. He looks forward to more opportunities and collaborations with other artists as he joins Star Magic. Marami na rin daw siyang remarkable experiences lalo na sa theater but it is his being part of Rack of Aegis that really hits the core. This is what he considers special to him. “To be mentored by a National Artist for 14 years, lahat ng mga shows nu’n grabe. Sa theater naman I’m fortunate enough na lahat ng ‘yun eh tumatak sa akin. Then ang Rack of Aegis, this opened doors of opportunities for us”. Poppert also composed a song Payakap Inay for his mom who sadly passed away two years ago.
Davey Langit
Edward described him as having a heavenly voice. If you’ve watched Pinoy Dream Academy and Himig Handog 2016 (he won), siguradong maalala niyo siya. Now part of the A Team, Davey is excited for what’s in store for him and his team mates as he is known to work passionately lalo na sa pagkanta. He said that his love for music sustains him at habang nag-eenjoy, ‘yun ang mahalaga. Davey said that after winning in Himig Handog he didn’t stop there. “Lagi kong iniisip, what’s next? Hindi ako napapagod na ganoon eh. Because you’re only as good as your last performance.”
Moira
She is the youngest in the A team family. She just graduated from college and is into fitness and doing TikTok and Kumu especially during the pandemic. With the A Team and Star Magic Moira hopes she will have the chance to explore and perform with other artists na hinahangaan din niya. One of her appearances was in the Kilabotitos concert of Ian Veneracion and Ogie Alcasid, at talagang hindi raw ito makalimutan ni Moira. Nope, she doesn’t have plans in changing her screen name kahit may ka-pangalan din siyang singer.
Lara Maigue:
This isn’t impossible, since she is co-managed by The A Team. Who knows someday soon, she will be sharing the stage with the Songbird. She also writes songs gaya ng manager nilang si Ogie Alcasid and that is a plus factor for her. Pre -pandemic she and other artists were able to perform in Riyadh and Lara said, she was moved by the experience having touched people’s lives with their songs.
Krystelle:
This lady is now in the US but distance is not a hindrance for her to be part of The A Team. In fact she sings love songs and cover songs and she’s happy that her talent gets recognized by people around her. The A Team at Star Magic talents.
Aikee:
If you’re a gamer, pamilyar si Aikee sa inyo dahil hit ang kanta niyang Dota o Ako. He is a rapper and a performer. During the mediacon, Aikee expressed his happiness that people appreciate his songs and gets positive reviews about it. Marami na siyang napuntahan as he started singing at age 6! Marami na rin siyang masasayang experiences in his journey as a newbie singer prior to this pandemic. “Madami kasi eh, patunay lang na hindi hadlang ang pandemya para ipagpatuloy ang music na talagang hilig ng mga tao.” Former DJ din si Aikee.
Anthony Barion:
Kahit nasa Australia, patuloy pa rin si Anthony sa paghasa ng kanyang pagkanta. This promising talent is excited to see what’s next in his career path. While in Australia and when not busy with his singing activities, Anthony keeps an eye on his business which he runs himself. Anthony is also an athlete and pre-pandemic, he was busy playing football and other outdoor sports. Now, he is more focused in his business and singing with the A Team.
Gian Magdangal:
Isa sa mga senior sa The A Team si Gian. But it doesn’t mean that this will stop him from learning new things with his team and mentors. In the past, Gian has done TV shows, performances in theater, and even worked abroad for Disneyland. Now that he is with the A Team and Star Magic, Gian hopes that he’ll be able to work with other Kapamilya stars in the future as he knows he can learn from them too.
POLARIS (Talent Discoveries from ABS-CBN talent search– The Voice, TNT etc)
JM Yozures:
Tawag Ng Tanghalan’s pride, JM still can’t believe na parte na siya ng Star Magic, na dati raw ay pangarap lamang niya. And now that he is part of Star Magic, he wants to explore and learn more about how to maximize his talents.
Sheena Belarmino:
Another familiar face? She joined in both Your Face Sounds Familiar 2 Kids and TNT Kids, Ngayon namang dalaga na siya, Sheena joins singers her age especially on ASAP and she’s willing to take the stage by storm, “kahit pa-tumblingin niyo po ako, okay lang.” Kahit mahiyain, her voice and talent still shines through, in fairness.
Janine Berdin:
Napapanood sila ni Sheena sa ASAP Natin ‘To and she didn’t expect things would turn out nicely dahil wala silang audience sa ASAP, but when they were told about the comments and reviews, sobrang happy sila lalo na si Janine. She is grateful to her ASAP Natin ‘To family for guiding and taking care of them.
IDolls (Enzo Almario, Lucas Garcia, Matty Juniosa):
Nakakatuwa ang triong ito! Aminado sina Lucas, Matty at Enzo na malaki ang nabago sa buhay nila since Idolls was formed. Aside from the fact that people love their brand of performance, being part of ABS-CBN has changed their lives in ways they never imagined.
“TNT and Idolls, parang may ganoong levels na sobrang thankful sa ABS-CBN na they gave us this chance and opportunities. Lalo na ang maging part ng Star Magic, noon akala ko ‘pag sinabing bakla ako that ends there pero hindi pala.” sabi pa ni Enzo.
Let’s all make way for them as they perform for us on TV and other social media platforms. Best of luck, Black Pen artists!
