THE JOY IN LETTING GO

Spread the love

IS THERE JOY IN SETTING  SOMEONE YOU LOVE FREE?

The past few days had been so cold and rainy making me not want to do anything except lie down and tinker with my phone. Times like these make me senti and think about old memories. Did you feel the same way too?  Adding to the mood was listening to Moira’s song, “Paubaya”, that has unboxed unspoken emotions.

And speaking about this music video, it now has about 21 million views on You Tube. What makes the music video more interesting is that it features ex-lovers Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia.

Aside from the song being beautifully written and rendered,  the fact that  JoshLia are the main characters (who as we all know shared a colorful romantic past) contributed to it’s being a mega hit.

A controversial past whose ending left us all hanging…until this music video was shown.

WHEN SOMETHING COMES TO AN END

February is Pinoy’s love month and let me end this by writing about… endings.  What should we do when we find it difficult to end a relationship, to let go, move on and put closure.

Why? Because, we invested so much.

We trusted and gave our time and effort.

And this doesn’t only happen when letting go of a loved one, this could also mean letting go of a friend, a business partner or a relative that you no longer want to be part of your life.

When something is about to end, you’d know it. You’d feel it. But more often that not we ignore it because we still hope that it’ll work out.

How do you know when it’s time to let go?

HERE ARE THE SIGNS:

  • He’s not interested in doing daily activities with you anymore
  • He/she wants to spend more time with other people than with you
  • When you are together, he/she doesn’t give you the attention like he used to. Well, just observe. Don’t be paranoid.
  • He/ she hides messages and phone calls from you and rushes things when you are out on a date. That’s because he/ she is already into something else.
  • When he/ she chose to be with someone else and that someone is not you.

NEED FOR CLOSURE

When we finally let go and move forward, we ask ourselves…Am I  really okay now?  Why are we still hurt and affected? Why are we still recalling the past when it’s no longer there? Simply because we want closure.  Especially if you’ve been hurt so much by someone you loved or if you had hurt someone badly in the past.

But closure isn’t forced. It takes time and when the right time comes, God will give it to you.  Actually, when you least expect it that’s when it will happen.

Be ready to say your piece.  The I’m sorry’s.  I forgive you’s.

And wish each other well as you part ways.

SURRENDER TO  HIM

To let go of someone we love dearly means letting God decide what’s best for us as well. When He blesses you with a closure, welcome it  with a heart of forgiveness and be thankful that you have healed.

Like the last line in Moira’s Paubaya hit song–

“At kita naman sa ‘yong mga mata kung bakit pinili  mo siya…

Mahirap labanan ang itinadhana

Ipinapaubaya, ipinapaubaya ko na sa Kanya…”

  1. Ay anong kadramahan ito? Bongga ka pala kapag sum-sentí. Pero tama nga naman, huwag pilitin ang ayaw na sayo. Hindi ka rin naman magiging masaya kung kapili g ka nya pero iba ang nasa isip nya. Ipaubaya mo na..
