The Boxes NGC
A Foodie’s Haven
The Boxes is a strip lined with restaurants located in an area beside the New Government Center. Several days ago, my fellow bloggers and I went to check out the place and of course, food was the main agenda.

You might be wondering why it’s called The Boxes…
Well, Miss Tyrene Mae Ilisan, the owner of Yellow Leaf Restaurant, told me that the restaurants in the area were built from used container vans. Each was designed according to the owner’s specifications and their target market as well. The container vans underwent re-structuring, polishing, thorough cleaning and voilaaa… people can now enjoy different food offerings from the resto or bar of their choice.
As for us, we really enjoyed the gastronomic experience from trying the different specialties from the resto-bars this side of the city. Listed below are the names of the restaurants and bars lined up in The Boxes Food Strip so you can have a glimpse of what they are offering….
Tiffany’s Confections- If you are a dessert lover, especially of cakes and pastries, then this is a go-to place for you. They have mouth-watering cakes especially the Chocolate Hazelnut Cheesecake, oh gosh it’s really good! They also serve Hot Spinach Dip served with bruschetta which I suggest you guys should try, then also the pasta and sandwiches.
Yellow Leaf Cuisine- I like the ambiance of this restaurant. It has a relaxing vibe and they serve really delicious meals—buffalo wings, pasta, salad, ice cream shakes, nachos, quesadillas, cobblers… name it! Yellow Leaf will serve it to you. Once you try their buffalo wings and Con Tonno pasta, you’ll have more reason to come back to Yellow Leaf.
Pon’s RestoBar – This place is more of a bar and a chillax place for yuppies but yes, they also serve family favorites like sinigang, sizzling bangus, sizzling sisig, calamares, kinilaw, cheese sticks and chilled fruit juices.
The al-fresco area is a hit especially for those who want privacy and long talks with friends.
Bok’s Resto-Bar – The food is good and affordably priced. The place has rustic interiors so if you wanna hang out in a not so fancy but cool place and just chill out with friends, Bok’s is the answer.
FaFi’s Fusion – Singapeorean Chili Crabs is their specialty. Not just crabs, I mean giant flavorful chili crabs! So if you have a craving for Malaysian-Singaporean food, come to Fafi’s Fusion.
Sugureta Japanese Restaurant – Sugureta does not only serve Japanese delights, it is also a bar where you can drink and listen to your favorite acoustic music. They serve Japanese rice bowls, Sukiyaki, Tonkatsu and other Pinoy favorites like fried chicken, blue marlin, nachos, sizzling bangus plus a variety of drinks and more.
Retro KTV – Bring your friends and sing your heart away inside Retro KTV’s colorful videoke rooms.
The Dee-Loo Restaurant and Bar – A family restaurant that serves food we love from home. But to make the dishes extra special The Dee Loo adds more ingredients like in their special Sinigang they put in together seafood, beef and pork. Try out their specialties- Umbao’s chicken inasal, nachos, baby back ribs and quesadillas.
Stow Away RestoBar- This place is cool! No wonder even as early as 7pm, the bar was almost full. No need for further introduction, guys –don’t forget to drop by Stow Away and please try the beef tapa that’s best eaten with rice and vinegar. Really good!
Chateau Al Fresco – Another go-to place where good food and music come together. Chateau’s fried lechon manok is awesome! For those looking for a wide selection of drinks and cocktails this place is for you.
