The entire mega fandom got the shock of their lives when  Sharon Cuneta posted last October 10 on her Instagram a black and white photo with a caption, “on my way to retirement.”

The photo also had a rainbow printed caption saying “Kids, it’s almost time. Mama’s tired. I love you.” Sharon here is referring to her loyal Sharonians who have been with her for decades, since the start of her career. Some of them even address her as Mama Shawie in their comments on social media.  That’s probably what Sharon meant when she said “kids” as she is like a Mama to her Sharonians.

Syempre pa, alam niyo na kung ano ang reaksyon ng fans sa post ni Shawie!

ON HER WAY TO RETIREMENT

Sharon got mixed reactions from her fans, friends and people she knows from the industry. There were emoticons of hearts and praying hands sent by friends and others wishing her well in her decision as well as comments that Sharon deserves a much needed retirement.

Pero ang mga fans, hindi nagpa-awat ng emote kay Mega. Hindi maipagkakailang kahit apat na dekada na si Sharon sa industriya, her fans still want more of her each time. Kaya isang malungkot na balita sa kanila ang balak na pag-retire ni Mega.

Well, sa totoo lang, feeling ko matagal na ring plano ni Shawie na mag-retire. She even mentioned in her vlog na may ipinapagawa na siyang bahay even if she still loves to be in her condo. She’s also having a part of their new home that is under construction reserved for her pets dahil nagdagdag pa siya ng mga alagang aso.

PENDING SHOWS

This pandemic affected and caused a lot of hardships to us all especially those who are working in the entertainment industry. Isa si Sharon sa mga artistang naapektuhan ng pinsala ng pandemyang ito dahil marami siyang shows na hindi na muna matutuloy. In her recent vlog, Sharon mentioned that she is supposed to do four concerts here and abroad this 2020, unfortunately cancelled na nga lahat.

She was also about to start shooting a movie pero depende pa raw ngayon kung okay pa rin sa kasama niya. Some say this could be the one with Gabby Concepcion, her ex-husband, na matagal ng hinihintay ng kanilang fans.

“I was gonna have a concert with Regine in the States, was gonna have a concert of my own in Australia, I was gonna do four movies and then a big concert at the end of the year with the Concert Queen (Pops Fernandez) and then Covid-19 happened.” says Sharon in dismay.

THINGS TO CONSIDER

Sharon also said that what she’s taking into consideration is her age. “By the time they find a vaccine for the virus, probably by the fall of next year, unless a miracle happens that they find a cure or a vaccine soon, eh di 56 years old na ako by then. It’s not so much that I won’t look presentable cause I could always work hard at that.

But it’s more of the pagod factor. You have to understand, I’ve been working since I was 12 years old, that is not a joke. I love my work very much. But I don’t like that fatigue anymore that it causes me ‘pag nagwo-work ako. It’s not the same anymore siyempre when I was in my 30’s or 40’s or 20’s.

So, I’m just being realistic.” she pointed out.

Sharon mentioned that although the thought of retirement has come to mind, and may come again in the near future, she won’t totally disappear from the limelight.

That alone gives the loyal Sharonians something to smile about.
