Affordable International Call Rates for Filipino  Seafarers… Only From The New Globe Seafarer SIM

For Filipinos working overseas, communicating with their families back home is the surest way to relieve home sickness, keeps them abreast with happenings at home and gives them relief from stress brought about by work and by being alone.

For the seafarers, Globe recently announced through a press release that they have joined the Luneta Seafarers Welfare Foundation (LUSWELF) in celebrating the National Maritime Week 2017 where it launched the new Globe Seafarer SIM. The Globe Seafarer SIM offers special rates from over 50 maritime destinations worldwide. Seafarers can call for as low as P30 per minute and send a message at P10 per text to Globe and TM numbers back home.  The SIM is pre-activated with international roaming and valid for one year.

According to Mr. Mike Frausing, senior adviser of Globe International Business Group, “We are proud that almost a third of seafarers globally are Filipinos and we acknowledge their achievements and contributions. Our goal is to provide communication solutions that support the emotional needs of our seafarers who are longing for home and their families.”

The Globe SIM cards for OFWs and Seafarers were designed to address the concern of high roaming charges. Other than its affordable costs, Globe top-up is also easier to do via several options like prepaid call cards, GCash, Share-a-Load, and networks of retailers throughout the country.

On LUSWELF’s part, their Chair and CEO Don Ramon A. Bagatsing said, “Globe is a valuable partner for us, supporting our programs and the needs of our seafarers.  They are also very engaged with the maritime industry. Their latest offering, the Globe Seafarer SIM, will address the communication needs of our seafarers abroad with an accessible, affordable and easy-to-use product.”

LUSWELF’s office in Manila has been the meeting place of seafarers since the 1980s.  It is also where manning agencies come to promote their companies to job applicants.  It was also the venue of the National Maritime Week festivities which celebrated the service and sacrifices of Filipino seafarers who have chosen life at sea to give their families a better future.
