This is what we Ilonggos usually say after tasting /eating delicious food or to express that we really like something.  Here in Negros, people are fun loving, hospitable and always have a ready smile.  We want to be surrounded by family and friends and always want to invite and offer to our guests delectable meals ranging from a simple home-cooked spread to the most elegant parties.

NEGRENSE FOOD OFFERINGS

As Negros Occidental is known as the country’s sugar bowl, our province showcases food galore that will satisfy your palate- from sweet cravings to food fiesta of your favorite Negrense sud-an (viands).

Some food examples you can find when you visit the beautiful island of Negros are:  Chicken Inasal, Cansi, KBL (Kadyos, Baboy, Langka), Napoleones and Piaya, to name a few.  You may also want to learn the stories behind these dishes prepared in Negrense homes and restaurants.

MEGAWORLD: UPLIFTING THE LIVES OF THE NEGRENSES

Here in Bacolod, we are lucky that Megaworld Corporation, the country’s largest real estate developer, has already started the construction of The Upper East with its two towers of residential condominiums, a mall, church and then later a school and a hospital that will cater to Bacolodnons’ needs.

The Upper East is located in a 34-hectare property that used to be the Bacolod Murcia Milling Company (BMMC) in the Eastern side of Bacolod City. It is bounded by Burgos Avenue on the north, Lopez Jaena on the west and Circumferential Road on the east and is just across the New Government Center.

BMMC holds historical value to Negrenses. In the past, it has milled and provided sugar to the province of Negros and to its neighboring provinces and towns.  It’s locally made muscovado has provided the needed sweetness to a lot of locally made delicacies.

IMPACT IN LIVES OF NEGRENSES

Megaworld has created a great impact in the lives of the people of Bacolod and the whole province as well with the numerous jobs the construction of the multi-million project has generated.  Livelihood and employment have uplifted the lives of the locals and have provided them with a sense of security.  Even those who used to work in the haciendas are now working as construction workers in this venture.

As the Megaworld’s gigantic project slowly comes to reality we  look forward to its becoming a venue for more employment opportunities as well as a go-to place for family recreational and leisure activities.  It’s proposed row of restaurants can also serve as an outlet for visitors to taste Negrense’s “manamit nga pagkaon” or tasty and delicious food.

We are excitedly awaiting Megaworld’s culmination and opening day.  The City of Smiles is fortunate to have Megaworld as one of its top investors extending to the city its role of providing not only living spaces but also its entire township to improve the lives of the locals and the entire province of Negros Occidental as well.
