Fly To Negros Occidental: A Food Destination in the Visayas

Spread the love

MY SWEET BACOLOD

I lived in Manila for many years and half of my life I spent traveling back and forth to my hometown, Bacolod City.

Bacolod is the capital of Negros Occidental, known as the Sugar Bowl of the Philippines where sugar is the main agricultural product.  It is used in the many sweets and culinary treasures that are authentic to the province.

I’m proud to say that my birth place is one of the best food destinations in the Philippines. Aside from the annual and well attended Masskara Festival, Bacolod City, nicknamed “the City of Smiles” and the whole province of Negros Occidental also showcase different restaurants, beaches, mountain resorts and other recreational spots where locals and visitors can come and enjoy with family and friends.

TRAVEL EASY WITH CEBU PAC

Travel is now one of the many exciting things we can include in our bucket list. In this day and age, traveling can be easily done and enjoyed by anyone who wants to go on a trip.  Cebu Pacific, the country’s leading low cost airline, flies from Manila to all points of the Philippine islands and now they are also flying to several international destinations.

CEBU PACIFIC EXPERIENCE

My first experience traveling with Cebu Pacific was in the mid-90’s. Known to many as Cebu Pac, this airline gave a modern approach to each flight—having games while on board, more flights in a day to Bacolod and an approachable team that passengers can go to for their concerns.

Cebu Pac is known for their popular “cheap, affordable promo fare” gimmicks to invite more passengers to avail of their services.  They release these seat sales regularly in newspapers and online.  Passengers can book directly at their online site or through reputable travel agencies.

FLY AND FIESTA WITH CEBU PAC

Cebu Pacific played a big role in the recent Masskara Festival held in the city last October by bringing in many tourists from different places and all walks of life.

The Masskara celebration parties were held in the stretch of Lacson Street, at the Bacolod Public Plaza and the New Government Center.

The visitors were able to enjoy the sights- had picture taking, street dancing and of course, tasted Bacolod’s specialty dishes displayed in each stall along the streets. Favorite local food available were chicken inasal, pork barbeque, isaw (grilled pork or chicken innards), chicken feet and sinugba nga atay kag baticulon (grilled chicken liver and gizzard). Seafood galore was also enjoyed by tourists.  In fact, Negrense’s fresh catch is one of the local pride of the province.  All these specialties are available all year round as well as other known Ilonggo dishes and delicacies like cansi, KBL (kadyos, baboy, langka), piyaya and napoleones.
